Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent and work in collaboration with the Regulatory Reporting Specialist and Environmental Coordinator to report on key regulatory needs for the Project.
Provide expertise and support to Operations and Projects by leading the implementation of the Environmental Management System to allow for efficient operation of the project.
Main Accountabilities
Take the lead in all external reporting as required under existing permits, licenses and the Company’s environmental management system
Implement all monitoring and reporting under MDMER
Communicate applicable environmental regulations and legislation to Operation’s management
Support in the technical scope and environmental review of projects
Key stakeholder in the execution of the environmental management system
Update Project environmental management and monitoring plans to reflect Project operations and procedures
Responsible for data management for the Projects monitoring programs
Responsible for implementing and maintaining an electronic database management system
Maintain the HSES Sharepoint site
Perform field monitoring and sampling
Data management
Operation and care of field and laboratory analytical equipment
Follow Baffinland Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
Main Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental science, engineering or related program required
5-7 years environmental experience on mining operations and / or construction projects
Knowledge of environmental database and GIS software Required
Valid Provincial or Territorial driver’s license
Knowledge of current environmental legislation (Nunavut and Federal) and regulatory reporting Preferred
