We are looking for a well-organized, experienced full-time Bookkeeper to work with clients in our Cobourg office.
Are you are a passionate, self-starter who can work with limited direction?
Your primary responsibilities will include :
Providing bookkeeping assistance to clients, internally and externally, in various formats including Quickbooks, QBO, Sage / Simply Accounting, TaxPrep and CaseWare
Processing bi-weekly / semi-monthly payroll for clients
Produce accurate income statements
Complete and submit ROEs
Set up chart of accounts and set up new companies in accounting systems
Preparation and filing of CRA remittances
Preparing monthly journal entries and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts as well financial and operating statements
Preparation and filing of HST returns
Providing assistance with ad-hoc reports as required
Preparation of client reports as required
Preparation ot T1, T4's as required
Maintaining regular contact with clients and taxation authorities (CRA) to complete all routine formalities from an accounting perspective
Occasional travel to clients' location
Hours of Work : Full time Monday - Friday - with additional hours during busy tax season.
A successful candidate will have :
Strong bookkeeping skills are essential
3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public practice
Experience with and / or knowledge of QuickBooks, Sage Accounting, and Microsoft Office suite
Experience with accounting and tax software an asset. (CaseWare, TaxPrep, PC Law)
Intermediate Excel skills
Ability to change priorities quickly and easily, meet recurring deadlines and take ownership of assigned client work
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn and develop
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to work effectively both independently as well as part of a team
Adept at problem solving and troubleshooting as not everything is as it seems
Strong client and interpersonal skills - our clients mean the world to us
Additional skillsets include :
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, in both verbal and written communication
Ability to take initiative, to organize workload efficiently and manage / meet deadlines
Approachable, supportive team player with a strong sense of urgency and a demonstrated history of achieving common goals
Experience working in a professional and confidential capacity
Strong computer skills, including MS Office, web-based programs / databases and general office equipment
