Our Energy Management client in Montreal, QC is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to be a part of a multi-year, multi-million Euro project.

What will you do?

You will work closely with other R&D engineers and be accountable to develop electronic hardware for products such as valves & actuators to ensure adequate performance, quality and reliability of the product as well as compliance to specific ratings, product specifications, agency and standards requirements.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • 5-8 years of experience in a R& D environment and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines
  • Along with demonstrated experience in the design of industrial equipment such as valves & actuators, electronic control systems, or Robotics
  • Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink, PLC and DCS
  • Skills / Competency Requirements

    The successful candidate must be a team player who possesses organizational and communication skills and have strong problem-solving abilities in dealing with both electrical and mechanical equipment.

    To fulfill this position the candidate will :

  • Lead the product electronic design specifications in the cross-functional team including Offer Management, Industrialization, Firmware, Software, Mechanical and our other R&D colleagues
  • Take ownership of hardware development through specification and selection of electrical and electronic components, simulation / modeling, testing and validation, both on bench and in systems
  • Develop electrical schematics, layouts and wiring diagrams
  • Perform integration of subsystems and subassemblies in conjunction with new design, product improvement, field, and production problem / resolution
  • Provide support to test engineers
  • Communicate mechanical requirements
  • Provide support for troubleshooting all system related issues
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration (purchasing, manufacturing. quality assurance, etc.) and be involved with new product development process
  • Gain a detailed knowledge of HVAC systems and architecture
  • Support the team in knowledge management and continuous improvement activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management
  • Experience / Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university
  • A minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience in a R&D environment, and have completed two full-design cycles during the last 3-year period
  • Demonstrated experience in design of industrial equipment such as Valve & Actuators and electronic control systems
  • Experience in elaboration of electronic controls and electrical schematics and electronics agency and standard requirements
  • Knowledge of MATLAB / Simulink, PLC and DCS
  • Ability to travel domestically and international up to 10% of the time
  • Remote work during COVID lockdown
