What is a travel assistant?
Travel assistants accompany special needs students as they travel to and from school on the bus and ensure their safe transportation.
Students may have significant health / medical and / or behavioural needs.

What will travel assistants do?
As a travel assistant, this position supports students to travel safely from their home to school and back again on their method of transportation.
Where are travel assistants needed?
Travel assistants are needed in schools in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga.
How much time is involved?
Travel assistants generally work two hours per day (one hour before school and one hour after school) during the school year from September to June.
What are the benefits of being a travel assistant?
As a travel assistant, you will earn $14.28 an hour plus a minimum of 4% vacation pay.
How can you apply?
Since this is a casual position that works on-call, on a day-to-day basis during the school year (September to June), travel assistants must live within a reasonable distance to the school.
Travel assistants must re-apply each year.
Travel assistants are hired by schools directly. Interested candidates should contact the school within your surrounding neighbourhood to inquire if there are any opportunities.
Applicants should submit a covering letter and resume outlining why you would like to be a travel assistant, your experience and / or your interest in working with children with special needs.
You will also be required to provide two supervisory references.

Criminal Record Check
For the safety of students, successful candidates will be required to submit a satisfactory prior to the commencement of any employment duties.
Recent changes made by the RCMP have resulted in significant processing delays for some candidates. You may wish to start the process to obtain your criminal record check as soon as possible.
