What is the opportunity?

As Vice President, Mid-Market M&A, you will join the Toronto team while also supporting other offices across Canada. Our national group focuses on providing M&A services to private Canadian companies by providing a value added services offering.

You will support the Directors in the preparation of presentations, research materials, proposals, financial models, and transaction documentation, therefore a strong financial accounting background is a must.

In this role, you will broaden your investment banking experience with entrepreneurial clients, including the sale of privately owned businesses and non-core divisions, acquisitions, shareholder and management buyouts, and capital advisory services.

What will you do?

  • Support the team in Toronto as well as other offices, as part of a National Mid-Market M&A team
  • Oversee research and documentation prepared by Analysts and Associates
  • Assist Directors in preparation of internal and external marketing materials
  • Support Directors in the preparation and presentation of marketing pitches to existing and potential clients
  • Oversee preparation of integrated financial models to support analysis in proposals and transaction documents
  • Assist with industry research and utilize best practices derived nationally on local mandates
  • Assume day to day responsibility for transaction execution, including quality control and client facing interactions.
  • Follow up and engage with RBC partners including Commercial Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management, under direction of team members
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must-have

  • 4 6 years of experience in a M&A or Corporate Finance role, including financial accounting, commercial banking, or investment banking exposure
  • Undergraduate degree with a focus in Business, Economics, Mathematics or other quantitative fields with exceptional academic results
  • Strong computer literacy with emphasis on Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong ability to prepare integrated financial models including discounted cash flow, leveraged buyout and valuation analysis
  • Strong business development and leadership skills with excellent ability to use research tools to extract relevant background material for business development and transaction support
  • Knowledge of and interest in financial markets, strong comprehensive financial and accounting skills and strong personal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment under time constraints as you manage and prioritize external and / or internal deadlines
  • Nice-to-have

  • CPA, CBV, CFA or other relevant professional designation or advanced degree ongoing or completed
  • Experience in financial and / or professional services and ability to manage complex concepts
