Waterville is located in the Annapolis Valley, along the beautiful Bay of Fundy, which is well-known for its high tides, orchards and vineyards.
Located about an hour outside of Halifax, the Valley area is home to Acadia University and attracts people from all over the province with its farm markets and many music and theatre festivals.
Widely recognized for its innovation and patient-centered care, the IWK’s Mental Health & Addictions Program serves our province and region through outreach services, day treatment programs, an acute inpatient unit, intensive residential services, outpatient and community mental health services, an emergency room crisis service, forensic services and complex case management.
The IWK collaborates with Capital District Health Authority to deliver reproductive mental health and mental health mobile crisis services.
The Mental Health & Addictions Program provides these services through a continuum of care, ranging from early intervention to intensive services.
We take an interdisciplinary approach to ensure the involvement of the most appropriate clinical resources at the right time.
Our program also values and supports team members in their further education and development.
The Staff Nurse will be located at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility (NSYF), a modern correctional facility, located in Waterville, Nova Scotia.
The Staff Nurse is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process in the delivery of family centred patient care consistent with the objectives, mission and vision of the IWK Health Centre.
The Staff Nurse provides primary health care for both general incarcerated adolescent population and for youth admitted to the acute inpatient care unit who present with medical and / or mental health problems and is an integral part of the Forensic interdisciplinary team.
The RN helps to build our reputation for excellence in the Maritime community and beyond. He / she contributes to a sustainable health care system through formal and informal partnerships.

Hours of Work
12 hour shifts, full rotational schedule (Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, Holidays)
