Maintenance Planner

Responsibilities include ensuring proper system configuration and structure to drive an effective and efficient maintenance planning system that is in compliance with GMP requirements.

Drive and lead improvement initiatives as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modify / Create PM work instructions with the Maintenance / Engineering / Production teams to ensure equipment reliability by reducing downtime and quality exceptions
  • Using JD Edwards system / Maximo, authorize and execute proper release of maintenance parts from stock room to applicable work center within plant.
  • Prioritize and issue work orders for repairs when requested, based on plant strategy and patient priorities
  • Prepare reports for senior management to review to understand spend vs. budget, and identify opportunities for continuous and cost improvements
  • Generate manual requisitions and PO’s for additional parts that are required for repairs but not in stores.
  • Enter and file all documentation related to C
  • Management software
  • Generate weekly PM’s / TPM’s.
  • Sending out weekly reports (PM’s / TPM’s and Work Orders)
  • Monthly scorecard for PM’s / TPM’s.
  • Classification of work orders.
  • Close all PM’s, TPM’s and Work Orders.
  • Monthly Metrics for the team to see.
  • Create new PM’s / TPM’s.
  • Update, cancel PM’s.
  • Insure all parts are available for Work Orders.
  • Working with Maintenance Supervisor / Team Leader scheduling daily work.
  • Planning Shutdown work.
  • Maximo implementation.
  • Utilize millwright skills and knowledge to support the team in peak volumes, shutdown periods, support key projects, etc.
  • Rebuild components such as STS (Solution Transmission System) valves as needed and prepare exchange
  • Conduct follow up on outstanding PO’s for expected delivery.
  • Receive and check all incoming parts, materials and hand tools. Match receipts with purchase orders and put away in allocated locations.
  • Verify actual receivable to the PO.

  • Conduct storeroom spot checks (cycle counting for empty bins including an annual cycle count of all stores inventory).
  • Critical Work Requests, TPM’s, PM’s, Work Orders ensuring audit-readiness at all times.
  • Coordinate and issue work orders for rebuilding repair stores inventory.
  • Partner with production and maintenance stakeholders to develop a risk-based strategy for ensuring most critical parts can be effectively sourced to minimize downtime
  • Utilize change management and coaching skills to work with stakeholders to ensure they are adhering to new procedures for maintaining the systems
  • Train new employees on the Maintenance
  • Job Requirement

  • Successful completion of High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid provincial certification as an Industrial Millwright Mechanic Licence 433A
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field
  • Lean Manufacturing Training
  • Certification as a Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Mechanical, Electrical, other Technical
  • Mechanical, technical skills to understand equipment requirements and support with projects and technical troubleshooting as required
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills working with vendors to optimize costing, quality and delivery
  • Ability to coach others to support changes and follow new procedures
  • Ability to read blueprints and parts manuals.
  • Knowledge in computer systems to ensure optimal set up of the system to ensure data integrity, quick access to critical information, and generate reports to aid senior level decisions
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Strategic planning and strong organizational skills to establish risk-based plan for Preventative Maintenance system.
  • Skills in a computerized work order and preventative maintenance system, to provide leadership in how the system is setup and maintained to optimize data input, retrieval and reporting.
  • Flexibility in working hours to support the needs of the maintenance and productions teams
  • Coverage for production overtime Saturdays and winter and summer plant shutdown is mandatory
  • Ability to understand and communicate with technical personnel on all aspects of maintenance issues
  • Ability to interact with team members at all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple commitments and competing priorities in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with entire MS office Suite.
  • Ability to lift 50lb weights to place parts onto shelves or into storage drawers
  • Technical Trade (ie : Electrical, Mechanical, Millwright, etc) or similar technical background
