The finance department assumes responsibility for managing and reporting the organization’s finances. It is committed to continuous improvements in the way it organizes the financial and accounting affairs, including the preparation and presentation of appropriate accounts, and the provision of financial information for executives.

The primary function of this position is to provide support to Finance in the areas of closing and reporting, including month-end analysis, forecasting.

Additional responsibilities include gathering of key data from management, internal business groups and the financial system to analyzes trends and explain variances.

The successful candidate will create and update various reporting tools to assist in ongoing analysis and dissemination of information to stakeholders.

In addition to the primary function responsibilities, this role will spend a portion of its time in 2021 / 2022 as part of the Finance project team responsible for upgrading the existing ERP system from Microsoft Dynamics AX to Microsoft D365.

A supporting role within the compliance area will round out this position’s responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Month-end Accounting Cycle :
  • Participate in the month-end closing process, including the preparation and posting of various journal entries / batch jobs, etc
  • Loading to Hyperion Essbase to aid in Financial analysis and reporting
  • Extract, analyze and report on expenditures for both labour and non-labour components, to ensure accuracy of financial figures
  • Reporting and Analysis :
  • Contribution to the development of the annual budget, monthly and long-term forecasts
  • Support cross-functional teams on the monthly forecast and annual budgeting processes
  • Conduct financial analysis, analyze trends, gather and maintain database of information to present to Management with recommendations
  • Contribute to monthly reports / KPIs, both Excel and Power-point based for dissemination of performance and forecasts
  • ERP Project :
  • Participate in the D365 ERP project by supporting and learning from existing Financial Subject Matter Experts (SME’s)
  • Activities will include development of requirements / user stories, user acceptance testing / regression testing, etc.
  • Creation and maintenance of process / training documentation and development of control measures
  • Goal is to meet business stakeholders needs, while developing process improvements focused on increasing accuracy, reducing risk, and eliminating waste

  • Qualifications :

  • Must have an Accounting designation (CPA) with 8 years financial analysis / accounting experience at the corporate level
  • Must have experience working within an ERP financial system (Microsoft Dynamics 2012 or D365 preferred)
  • Solid technical and analytical skills with high degree of accuracy and tenacity, including a strong working knowledge of Excel and Power point
  • Experience working as part of a project team and related methodologies (Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban preferred)
  • Experience with project accounting complexities would be a strong asset (i.e. full software project lifecycle accounting)
  • Working knowledge of Hyperion Essbase would be a strong asset
  • Possess’ strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Takes ownership, is able to meet tight deadlines, is flexible to accept diverse responsibilities, and work with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, a team player committed to achieving common departmental / organizational objectives
  • Able to disseminate information to all levels of the organization and functional areas
