The Legal Information and Resource Network (LIRN) is a not-for-profit organization mandated to manage the provision of legal information and library services for members of the Law Society of Ontario in a rapidly changing legal information and service delivery environment.

With a newly appointed skills-based Board of Directors in 2019, LIRN is now seeking a Managing Director to establish the strategic leadership and management of LIRN.

  • The Managing Director, along with the Board of Directors, will carry out the mandate of the organization to promote high standards of learning and competence for lawyers and paralegals;
  • to support the curation of reliable legal information resources in an efficient and effective way and offer a range of services targeted to the needs of lawyer users.

    With a current annual budget of over 8 million dollars, LIRN manages grants to 48 county and bar association libraries in Ontario.

    LIRN is responsible for managing these funds within an evidence-based finance and resource allocation process that is responsive to rapidly changing models of service delivery given technology opportunities.

    As the ideal candidate, you are a strategic thinker committed to the competence of legal professionals and have an interest in, and understanding of, the legal information needs of all legal professionals and county law library users.

    Your intellectual curiosity and strategic foresight will serve you well, as will your experience working in a multi-stakeholder environment with a unique governance model.

    You have experience supporting a board of directors and working within a network environment. The successful candidate will apply top-notch organizational and communication skills as they develop and execute LIRN’s priorities in conjunction with a Board of Directors comprised of nationally recognized industry leaders.
