Our Design and Editorial teams, in conjunction with Microsoft AI technology, provide global and local news content to through a portfolio of products Microsoft News Apps, MSN, Edge browser and a lot of third party partner products and we’re growing!

We’re looking for a highly skilled User Experience Designer to design and craft next-class content experiences across the Microsoft News product portfolio within the Design studio in the Vancouver BC, Canada office.

The focus is centered on Experience, Media and Information design.As a designer, you’ll help drive the execution and vision for the Microsoft News products portfolio.

You would be working on designs that span devices, screen sizes and platforms, and envisioning creative UX solutions for a very large base of existing users.

You’ll be joining a set of designers, with whom you can partner, learn from, and contribute towards. You will be an integral part of the engineering team and will have the opportunity to partner closely with Program Managers and the Developers that are directly involved in creating and evolving user experiences.

An ideal candidate would have experience with simplifying complex user scenarios. You are forward-thinking, passionate about improving our users experience, on top of current UX trends, and excited about exploring new possibilities and opportunities.

You can quickly bring new ideas to life from low-fidelity sketching to clickable prototypes. You are able to take big picture ideas and help translate them to ownable concepts with your design and storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and deliver compelling experiences at exceptional quality, from wireframing concepts to final production and asset creation
  • You must have strong interaction and visual design skills with high-level of proficiency with common design tools (primarily Figma)
  • Experience in producing scenarios, process flows, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, and other artifacts required to communicate key design concepts.
  • Strong communication and project management skills are required as is the ability to self-motivate. You must have the ability to understand technology issues and communicate information effectively.
  • Present design ideas and assets as needed to peers, partners, and management in ways that bring the customer story to life, Incorporate feedback into design efforts
  • Effectively communicate with the global design team, editorial team, program managers and developers through implementation to realize design vision
  • Understand the array of technical constraints, user goals and business requirements that shape current and future products
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Industrial Design or related area required, or equivalent education or experience
  • 5+ years of experience in relevant design discipline for consumer product experiences
  • A meticulous sense of detail and ability to seek out simple solutions to complex design challenges
  • Strong grasp with Brand and UI design systems with meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience in delivering production assets to development counterpart on time and with quality
  • Fluency in current design trends
  • Demonstrable ability to work confidently with Program Management, Development, Product Planning, Brand, Marketing, and Usability
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
