We are currently looking for a full-time (approximately 40-hour week) Electrical Worker / High Voltage Laboratory Technician to join our team in Toronto, branch located near Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The successful candidate is mechanically inclined with an electrical certification (or certification in progress) and is flexible to work most weekends to support our Power Technical Services Division performing substation maintenance.
When not working with our crew in the field on weekends, you will be working in our High Voltage Laboratory cleaning, assessing, inspecting, testing, repairing, and calibrating specified tools and devices including jumper cables, ground cables, insulated live line tools, and other tools as required.
What you will do
High Voltage Laboratory Services Week Days
Conduct cleaning, assessment inspections, testing, repairs, and calibration of specified tools and devices including jumper cables, ground cables, insulated live line tools, and other tools as required
Complete work orders
Assemble tools and products from components to finished goods
Perform service, repairs, and source replacement parts
Estimate repair requirements and assist with quote preparation for customers, once sufficiently trained
Identify repair / replacement parts needed, based on experience and training level
Ensure quality and on time delivery of all serviced product
Ensure safety compliance in the high voltage laboratory environment
Electrical Field Service Work Most Weekends and Occasional Week Days
Some climbing of small towers
Other general labour tasks as required by the crew
Skills / Personal Requirements
Proven mechanical aptitude
Knowledge and usage of hand tools
General maintenance skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good communications and organizational skills
Strong team and collaborative skills
Able to work and succeed without direct supervision
Computer skills at the beginner level
Ability to quickly learn new tasks, be trained and employ what is learned
Valid G driver's license
Personal transportation is required as public transportation may not accommodate electrical maintenance schedule
Education / Experience
Diploma / Certification within the electrical field (completed or in progress)
Experience in an equipment maintenance, or repair environment is an asset (but not required)
Knowledge of standard safety practices
