This summer position is responsible for the effective daily operation of the organization’s Human Resources programs and initiatives.
The main focus of this role is to support in guiding and managing the overall provision of Human Resources policies, services and programs for the entire organization.
The role offers the unique opportunity to be an integral part of developing our existing HR activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Research and recommend a database for us to house all existing documents
Review and revise orientation packages and processes for new employees
Review the employee agreement and identify any opportunities for change / improvement
Ensure that HR department initiatives align with business objectives by identifying solutions and developing strategies;
advise managers on how Human Resources can help them achieve business goals
HR services : research and stay up to date with current trends in HR services; ensure that HR programs (such as recruitment, talent and performance management) are meeting the needs of the employees and the organization
Full cycle recruitment : work with hiring managers to fill all recruitment needs, including such activities as screening candidates, drafting / reviewing interview questions, participating in or conducting interviews
Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel trends and develop recommendations for improvement of human resources policies and practices
Manage salary administration program and conduct wage surveys within labor market to ensure compliance and equity within organization
Develop and maintain job descriptions and job evaluation process; ensure maintenance of pay equity
Participate in the development and implementation of effective employment-related programs such as recruitment and resource planning, retention, performance management, employee engagement;
Participate in different special HR projects (programs implementation, HRIS implementation, pay equity, salary studies, leadership competency outcomes, etc.).
Be between ages 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Preference will be given to those students studying in the HR field is preferred
Be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and;
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
Competent with Google applications, MS Office applications and can easily pick up new software programs and applications
Demonstrated organizational and planning skills
Attention to detail, energetic and can work under minimal supervision
Strong communication skills and ability to manage situations where conflict may arise
Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple demands, competing priorities and projects, multi-task and work to tight deadlines
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, facilitation, conflict management and research skills in order to work with all levels within the organization
Currently enrolled in college / university; specialization in Human Resources is preferred
Good problem solving and analytical skills, with experience in reconciling accounts and reports
Able to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
Enjoy a wide variety of tasks in a face paced environment
Knowledge of the local community would be considered an asset
