The primary function of the Department Manager (DM)Sales Floor is to manage the sales floor. This includes supervisingand training associates, managing associate performance, andensuring adequate department coverage through influencingscheduling of associates.

This also includes managing stock levelfor the department, changing prices to reflect the most up- to-datemarkdowns and reductions, and performing cost overrides.

The DMSales Floor also uses internal systems and generated reports toplan inventory levels, track and resolve any issues, check order orsales management system, and retrieve key information.

The DM SalesFloor is responsible for keeping management informed, executingdaily assigned tasks, and maintaining product knowledge.

The DMSales Floor is also responsible for providing excellent customerservice by greeting customers, fulfilling customer requests,identifying customer needs, and hanuling customer concerns.

The DMSales Floor is also required to maintain a safe and secure workenvironment by conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards,keeping store areas clean and organized, and monitoring forpotential theft or security risks.

The DM Sales Floor operatesstore equipment and supports other departments as needed. Lastly,the DM Sales Floor is responsible for completing all other dutiesas assigned.

Requires morning, afternoon, and evening availabilityany day of the week. Required to work a schedule as determined bysales, customer, and business needs, but may be changed by storemanagement based on the needs of the store.

  • Requests to bescheduled off for a specific day require advanced notification andapproval by supervisor. Hourly Full Time, Part Time or Seasonal : Generally scheduled 40, 24 to 30, or 0 to 40 hours per weekrespectively;
  • more hours may be required based on the needs of thestore. This position reports to an Assistant Store Manager andleads hourly associates.

    Minimum Qualifications

    HighSchool Diploma or equivalent.

    2 years experience in afast-paced retail environment (e.g., big-box stores, food service,customer service experience), including at least 1 year supervisoryexperience OR 6 months Lowe's store sales floorexperience.

    Experience with computer and web-based systems(e.g., email, web-based applications, delivery / scheduling systems,online ordering systems, training).


    1 year customer service experience in ahome improvement setting.

    1 year work experience indepartment (e.g., millwork, plumbing, tools).

    Knowledge ofpower equipment operation (e.g., forklift, lift truck, orderpicker).

    Knowledge of Lowe's installationservices.

    Lifts up to 40 pounds without assistance; maylift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

    TheDepartment Manager - Sales Floor may be required to perform jobactivities, with appropriate intermittent relief where applicable,under difficult work conditions such as in extreme cold, heat,inclement weather, at heights, while exposed toconstant / intermittent sounds (if applicable).
