Under the supervision of the Director, International Programs, the ideal candidate will engage in all matters related to communications, information and knowledge management within the International Programs’ team.

More precisely, the communication officer will execute the communication plan and strategy of projects, particularly the Lazos de Agua Program implemented in Latin America He or she will support learning and knowledge management activities and Social Art for Behavior Change (SABC) communication activities.

This position requires impeccable writing skills (writing and editing) in English and Spanish, a strong interest in content creation for different audiences within the international development sector (web sites, social media postings, donors, NGOs, beneficiaries, etc.

The ideal candidate should appreciate information management, be detail-oriented, experienced in managing social media accounts, organized and feel comfortable working with diverse colleagues at an international level.

Main tasks and responsibilities :

Content creation (50%)

  • Collecting and writing change stories from projects ();
  • Producing change stories for different media (radio, video, multimedia);
  • Producing and updating various Project Pagers and Fact Sheets;
  • Producing presentations to support International Programs’ interventions and knowledge exchange activities;
  • Writing about project’s activities based upon testimonials, field reports and field trips, including projects of the Lazos de Agua (based in Latin America) program in Spanish;
  • Writing social media posts and managing Web Site updates for the Program Lazos de Agua in Spanish;
  • Support One Drop’s projects’ visibility across social media channels, i.e. develop content to share across various channels (Websites, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, etc.);
  • Maintain regular activity of posts / updates / tweets and existing social media accounts by interacting and engaging with followers to expand community;
  • Information management (25%)

  • Managing (posting, updating, cleaning) the Lazos de Agua web site, which will be in Spanish and English;
  • Integrate and update knowledge products (case studies, guides, articles, videos, posters, slideshows, policy briefs, webinars, newsletters, etc.);
  • Processing information from projects, including reports, photos, and testimonials;
  • Supporting standardization of reports and documents across projects;
  • Updating International Programs Schedule;
  • Collaborate and play a liaison role to create and exchange content to be used by other departments;
  • Produce technical information for various audiences and purposes;
  • Support International Program’s activities (25%)

  • Supporting the fulfillment of International Program’s communication needs, including provision of accurate information about projects and provision of inputs for the elaboration of communication materials;
  • Supporting Social Art for Behavior Change (SABC) activities by producing communication materials for SABC interventions and supporting workshops, and dissemination campaigns and communication activities;
  • Supporting learning and knowledge sharing activities such as facilitation of communities of practice, facilitation of workshops and webinars, preparation of exchanges and other national and regional meetings;
  • Supporting the planning, managing and execution of public relations and communications events of Lazos de Agua to be held in Latin America or in Canada;
  • Any other related duties.

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master degree (highly desirable) in communications, journalism, literature, digital communication and multimedia, applied human sciences, sociology, anthropology, human systems interventions, international development or any related field;
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in communications;
  • Spanish is essential, a good command of English and / or French are highly desirable
  • International development experience and / or experience on the field an important asset;
  • Knowledge of the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector an asset;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing communications in not for profit environment or within an international organization including creating and managing digital communication;
  • Outstanding written, oral communications and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to prioritize project and work independently as well as in groups, managing multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
  • A commitment to service and innovation by demonstrating a proactive and solution oriented approach;
  • Ability to communicate in various settings with diverse groups;
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a global team environment, including working well with team members and partner organizations located in multiple time zones and countries;
  • Ability to adjust to periods of increased workflow and varying responsibilities;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Flexible and highly adaptable;
  • Intermediate level ok knowledge with MS Suite (Excel)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint an asset
  • Willingness and ability to travel, if requested (10%);
