The Opportunity : Manager, Logistics & Distribution, Montreal
A Manager based in Montreal is needed to join our Logistics & Distribution practice. This role will be responsible to deliver work across our industries as well as provide occasional support to sales.
Our approach covers end-to-end development and delivery of DC Design / layout and implementation strategies including AutoCAD / Revit layouts, cubing, pre-
slotting, slotting, determination of required FTE, mobile equipment and associated MHE, while utilizing best in class process and automation as required.
We are looking for practitioners with applied industry and preferably consulting experience and a proven ability to deliver significant and sustainable results in large complex environments (multi-
billion dollar organizations).
Candidates must have a strong desire to be part of a high performing and successful team. We are seeking individuals who are passionate about Logistics & Distribution transformations using Digital Supply Chain technologies and Internet of Things / automation.
Lead end-to-end distribution center (DC) transformation engagements focused on evaluating current state, identifying improvement opportunities including automation, preparation of transformation business cases, overseeing design of future state including AutoCAD / Revit layouts and implementation of the chosen solution.
Ability to use client data such as sales volume, SKU count, growth etc. to perform pre-slotting and cubing to determine future sizing of the distribution center.
Ability to work with the draft person to create future state DC layouts in AutoCAD / Revit including location of mobile and fixed MHE based on the pre-slotting information
Assist clients in the identification of potential automation technology solutions, justified by the business case, which could help enable supply chain excellence (e.
g. Dematic, Witron, Knapp, SSI-Schaeffer etc.)
Ability to work with the team to create required business cases to justify the proposed design to client executive steering committees.
Work with client stakeholders on the execution of the chosen plan while supporting their core operations and key business needs.
Ability to perform slotting functions during the implementation phase of the project.
Ability to create transition plans to assist in the overall business transformation strategy.
End-to-end fixed and mobile Material Handling Equipment (MHE) experience including conventional racking, automation, mobile equipment etc.
Engage and work alongside client key stakeholders to gain input and buy-in to strategy development and to influence and execute the action plans;
Act as the MHE expert during the RFP strategy phase of procurement of equipment
Performance management, governance and control across supply chain functions; and
Project and change management in support of Supply Chain Transformations.
Overall consulting responsibilities :
Establish credibility with prospective clients by demonstrating expertise and knowledge of supply chain operations;
Manage engagement teams in the production of quality deliverables on time and on budget;
Ensure the quality of deliverables meets with client expectations; and
Manage engagement risk and project economics including planning, budgeting, billings and collection.
Support Business Development
Develop and maintain relationships with decision makers at key clients;
Contribute to pursuit teams and proposal development including innovative approaches and methodologies; and
Team with PwC colleagues in other lines of services to address client needs.
Perform role of a project and career coach
Coach and develop team members to create a high performing team environment;
Develop and deliver training and share knowledge across the global PwC network; and
Actively participate in staff recruitment and retention activities.
5 - 7 years DC Design and implementation experience, including at least 2-3 years of management consulting experience
In-depth understanding of supply chain processes and associated value drivers and frameworks
In-depth experience of analytical tools such as Alteryx and / or SAS
Design and interpretation experience using CAD tools such as AutoCAD / Revit etc.
Knowledge in business process improvement techniques, including Lean will be considered an asset
Exceptional project and change management skills
Working knowledge of project management tools such as MS-Project
Strong understanding of related disciplines, including procurement / sourcing, enterprise asset management, maintenance and finance is a definite asset
Post-secondary education in an applicable managerial discipline or equivalent work
MBA focusing on Supply Chain and / or Operational Management an asset
Professional Engineering designation will be considered an asset
The ability and willingness to travel within Canada and internationally will also be expected in this role with an expectation of between 25% to 50% travel
