Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Sales Strategy, Senior Brand Managers own their Canadian brands, business and lead their teams.

They create and execute brand operating plans, all commercial programs and manage the delivery of annual business objectives for their brands.

In addition, the Senior Brand Manager provides coaching and leadership to other Marketing Professionals within their applicable sector and cross functional team leadership to other Sales, Finance, and Market Research Professionals.


  • Key customers include brand, sector and business unit management, R&D, Sales, agency partners, and product supply teams.

  • Drives the delivery of business objectives for the brand including net sales, operating profit, gross margin, and market share.
  • Owns the long-range vision and plans for the brand.
  • Leads the development of the 3-year Strategic Brand Plan, commercial programs and annual plan delivery.
  • Acts as the key marketing contact on cross-functional team interacting regularly with R&D, Product Supply, Business Analysis, Business Planning, and Marketing Research.
  • Serves as the key contact for all advertising / integrated marketing agency relationships.
  • Provides project and / or marketing leadership on innovation projects relative to Canada.
  • Engages strategic customer teams & sales strategy team to ensure delivery of plan.
  • Consults on the long term innovation plan for the brand through North American collaboration.
  • Identifies and develops relevant consumer and / or shopper insights.
  • Collaborates across relevant brand categories, to identify and proactively drive efficient brand building.
  • Provide leadership to the Canadian brand portfolio team.
  • Defines strategic category and brand learning plan needs.
  • Effectively sets & manages Advertising & Consumer Promotion & Canada Trade budgets.
  • Effectively leads the implementation of Innovation Summits and long-term business building sessions with the customer.
  • Leads ad hoc projects as required by the business.
  • Serves as a Team Leader for reports (including all performance management responsibilities, coaching, and skill development in conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Sales Strategy)
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Education; Experience & Critical Skills / Competencies) :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business / related field and 6+ years prior CPG marketing experience
  • History of demonstrated success in the development / execution of brand marketing plans
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, influence, communication and presentation skills
  • Able to inspire, motivate, and lead multifunctional teams to achieve outstanding results
  • Ability to craft vision and strategy and make it come to life with actionable plans
  • Passionate about driving brand growth by better meeting consumer needs
  • Entrepreneur can-do attitude to find ways to break down growth barriers
  • Demonstrated positive energy to effectively represent brand internally and externally
  • Motivated by challenges and possessing a robust sense of curiosity
  • Strong skills and experience with diagnosing and resolving complex problems and opportunities
  • High familiarity with leading brand development planning, innovation and creative ideation processes
  • Experience with financial data and analysis
  • Ability to communicate precise innovation brand strategy to key customers that results in new strategy execution
  • Able to lead and inspire cross functional teams to deliver strong innovation plans
  • Experience with commercial program development and execution including digital, social, and eCommerce marketing experience
  • Highly capable of writing / evaluating initiative and communications briefs
  • Ability to work independently (self-motivated) and complete projects within required timeframes.
  • Able to make tough, informed decisions quickly to keep performance on track
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated use of data access tools (Nielsen Answers Desktop), key data sources (Nielsen Market track, Homescan Panel, etc.
  • and advanced PC based applications (Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time

  • Graduate degree in Marketing / Business Administration or MBA
  • Demonstrated success in bringing innovation to market
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and managing performance of others
  • Experience supporting organizational change
  • Able to work in a matrix organization driving collaboration across functions, geographies and businesses
