MISSION AND OBJECTIVES

The MOLT (Middle Office Loan Trading) Trade Support team provides essential operational risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.

The bank has a substantial Loan Trading presence in London, New York, and Asia.

The team supports the settlement process of primary / secondary loan trades and loan TRS, including all funding and documentation matters and is responsible for providing daily operational support to the Sales and Loan Trading desk.

The Individual will join a split team organization with team members located in both Montreal and New York City, under a functional management located in New York.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the trading desk, clients, counsel and operations teams to settle primary and secondary loan trades
  • Create trades and confirm the details of trades created in Clearpar match trader's browser in Star
  • Prepare and review the LSTA standard documents including Trade Confirms, Assignment Agreements, Participation agreements and Multilateral Agreements
  • Coordinate among counterparts and administrative agents, the review and execution of all trade documents necessary for closing
  • Monitor and manage high volumes of loan closings, update data in systems and perform reconciliations between Star and Sentry and Clearpar and Star
  • Monitor and apply corporate events in Star for both unsettled and settled trades
  • Investigate and resolve closing and transactional breaks / issues in a timely manner
  • Communicate and escalate any trade issues to management and the trading desk
  • Read and interpret Credit Agreements and Amendments
  • Maintain a high level of customer service with quick response times and accurate information (both internally and externally)
  • Participate in weekly team meeting with supervisor in New York
  • Report status of unsettled trades and key risk indicators to management weekly
  • Take part in different projects under the supervision of Manager in New York
  • Contribute directly to the Permanent Operational Control by identifying operational risks
  • TRAINING AND OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance
  • 2+ Years of Loan Experience
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
  • Strong academic background required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a split team organization
  • The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a strong desire to learn the processes and products
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must
  • Flexibility to adapt to a new and changing environment
  • Strong sense of risk and critical thinking
  • Rigorous and very organized
  • Strong Excel / PC skills with proven ability to work with multiple systems
  • Maintains high quality of customer service
  • Ability to effectively listen and communicate

  • ESSENTIAL SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment
  • Previous experience (1 yr+) in a Middle office environment or prior experience in working with Trading / Sales in a financial institution
