Position Summary :
The Campus Planning and Development Office serves as the lead to the institution related to all matters affecting University real estate and the use of space, providing expert advice and counsel to Senior Management for the management and allocation of campus space resources in support of the University’s Master Plan.
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Space Allocation and Compliance, the incumbent will interface with academic and administrative stakeholders at all levels to develop space programs, space allocation scenarios for a broad range of capital and strategic real estate planning initiatives ranging from acquisitions, dispositions, new buildings, off-campus rentals and major renovations to existing space.
The incumbent will also support in the analysis and reporting of space utilization and in the creation and maintenance of space standards and guidelines.
The incumbent will contribute the management of the University’s commercial lease portfolio, which will : support all aspects of property agreements such as lease negotiations and preparation of related documentation and contracts, in collaboration with external brokers / evaluators and Legal Services.
Develop and maintain relationships with property owners and tenants. In collaboration with the Lease Administrator, support the management of leasing inquiries, budgeting and expense control and landlord / tenant coordination.
Work with external property owners, tenants and relevant University units to facilitate tenant improvement work. Coordinate internal teams, including user representatives and external advisors.
The incumbent will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and perform a variety of complex tasks with a high degree of creativity.

Minimum Education & Experience :
Five (5) years' related experience
Other Qualifying Skills And / Or Abilities : Accreditation with recognized real estate or other professional organizations is an asset.
Experience in an educational or corporate real estate environment at a Senior level. Experience in a University environment is an asset .
Experience with and knowledge of principles, methods and best practices in space planning, space management and space allocation.
The ability to balance the expectations and priorities of demanding constituencies while keeping the University's priorities in view.
Creativity, attention to detail, outstanding analytical skills, ability to think strategically and work independently as well as in a team.
Strong negotiating and decision-making skills. Able to guide challenging conversations with internal / external stakeholders and balance competing interests.
Strong competence in reviewing, understanding and, in concert with legal professionals, drafting all forms of real estate contracts and agreements.
The ability to listen with the confidence to reach decisions, negotiate and determine a clear way forward with both internal and external stakeholders.
A working knowledge of Montreal and surroundings zoning, building and fire code regulations as they relate to planning and pre-design studies.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy environment and handle concurrent tasks under tight deadlines.
Knowledge / ability to understand and utilize software programs and applications to perform duties, including a high level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in Adobe Creative Suite an asset.Exceptional communication skills with internal stakeholders at all levels of organization, as well with external stakeholders and authorities.
Experience in higher education in a related field, an asset. Strong writing and presentation skills with oral fluency in English and French mandatory.
