As a Rehabilitation Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health you will :

  • Provide assigned physical / occupational therapy therapeutic interventions.
  • Assist in modification of OT / PT care plans and facilitate transition to community programs in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence.
  • Provide functional direction to family, and report relevant observations of client's condition in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Occupational and Physical therapy components plus one (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population.
  • Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed.
  • Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
  • Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goals
  • Demonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and education
