Business Development Director - AI and Data Science
Mitacs and SOSCIP are partnering together to co-fund a Business Development director that will work closely with both SOSCIP and Mitacs to support development of SOSCIP projects and objectives using Mitacs funding programs and grants (other programs can also be used).
SOSCIP is deploying an industry-led artificial intelligence (AI) innovation platform to provide our partners access to the latest in AI and data science technologies, as well as the talent needed to sustain long-term growth.
The position will be embedded in the Mitacs Business Development team, as well as SOSCIPs Operations Team, and will be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The successful candidate should be a self-motivated field-oriented independent professional with solid business development skills, business experience, and a strong scientific and technical background.
They will be confident and proficient in dealing with key stakeholders from government, industry, and academia, and will possess a commitment to facilitating the development of multi-disciplinary research collaborations with diverse partners.
By interacting with companies ranging from Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) to Fortune 500 companies the candidate will provide guidance to their research plans or make recommendations on contributions to research projects, with an aim to improving the company’s productivity, profitability, and growth through adoption of Mitacs and SOSCIP programs.
The candidate will also interact with university researchers to understand their research interests, help connect them with companies seeking university research expertise, and assist with the preparation of proposals seeking Mitacs support.
Industry sectors include aerospace, fintech, clean tech, health science, advanced manufacturing, mining, smart cities, automated vehicles, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE :
