Join us on an exciting project and make history! The Burnaby Hospital Renewal Project is a multi-year, multi-phase project with an initial focus on a new inpatient / outpatient tower, and support facilities building expansion and renovation .

This project is complex and will be comprised of new construction, demolition, renovations and various upgrades. Upon completion, the Burnaby campus will have two new patient care towers, an expanded emergency department, a new cancer treatment centre, and ultimately increase its acute care beds from 259 to 400.

This Regular Full Time opportunity is located at Burnaby Hospital in Burnaby, BC and will allow you to make a difference in the communities we live and serve.

Are you keen to use your unique ability to lead complex people? As the Deputy Chief Project Officer, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team for the Burnaby Renewal Project.

You will work in concert with the Chief Project Officer (CPO) leading the design, construction, planning and supporting teams in the development of strategic and tactical operations and the co-management of governance and project performance accountability.

In this position your primary responsibilities include the following :

  • Advise and consult to the Chief Project Officer on the strategic objectives and implementation of the Project.
  • Represent the project to internal and external partners on processes and project deliverables.
  • Support the CPO in the effective and timely discharge of the Authority's responsibilities as set out in the Design-Build phases (Design, Affordability, and DB Project Agreement) and Construction Management components.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational aspects of the project including planning, design, construction, equipment and project support
  • Act as the main project representative through the modified / progressive design / build collaborative / integrated process.
  • Lead all processes, standards, risks, costs, schedules, roles, affordability checks, shadow verification, procurement, consultant deliverables and project accountabilities.
  • Engage, lead and oversee a team of employees and consultants to achieve project deliverables; manage resources within established budget parameters.

  • a Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration or a related field
  • 10 years recent related experience in a senior leadership role in a large complex health care organization with responsibility for leading teams and managing large, complex capital projects (i.
  • e. Design Bid Build, Design Build Finance, Design Build, Construction Management, P3 Projects, m / pP3 projects)

    An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
