The opportunity

EY’s Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice is a consulting unit that provides Financial Service support to banks, insurers, and asset managers.

Our team includes individuals who have industry, client, and product knowledge as well as quantitative, regulatory, project management and technology expertise. We are seeking :

  • Manager Consultant with 4-7 years of experience in Capital Market / Market Risk and quantitative consulting services, and previously managed a team, coached, and mentored new hires, and managed stakeholder expectations to join our team based in the Toronto office,
  • Senior Consultant with 2-4 years of experience in Capital Market / Market Risk and quantitative consulting services to join our team based in the Toronto office,
  • Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis, and assessment of complex conceptual topics
  • A self-starting attitude, an ability to think outside the box and thrive on new challenges
  • To qualify for the Manager Consultant role, you must have

  • PhD or MSc qualification in subject such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Financial Modelling, Physics or Statistics,
  • 4-7 Years of experience in a Model Development and / or Validation, or Front Office Quant role, or another relevant quantitative finance role,
  • Possess the desire and ability to work closely with quantitative and technology professionals on engagements and manage a team to deliver,
  • Knowledge of Derivatives Pricing, Market Risk and CVA methodologies used for the trading, risk management and ideally calculation of regulatory capital requirements,
  • Knowledge of Derivatives Pricing, Market or Counterparty Risk & Financial Services Regulation experience in FRTB,
  • Excellent mathematical ability with an understanding of Stochastic Calculus, Partial Differential Equations, Monte-Carlo Methods, and Numerical Algorithms (, FE and FD),
  • Previous experience of regulatory interaction and familiarity with the broader industry and regulatory environment a distinct advantage,
  • Knowledge of market risk regulatory requirements (Basel II, Basel III),
  • Experience with market risk models and methodologies : derivative instruments (plain vanilla and exotic), valuation (from accounting perspective), market risk models development and validation, market risk assessment (VaR, XVA, sensitivity analysis, stress / scenario testing),
  • A risk management designation such as FRM would be an asset,
  • Working knowledge of programming languages such as Python, VBA / R / Java / C# / C++ / SQL,
  • To qualify for the Senior Consultant role, you must have

  • PhD or MSc qualification in subject such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Financial Modelling, Physics or Statistics,
