It builds light transit, bus rapid transit and Regional Express Rail and operates GO Transit, UP Express and PRESTO.Our Capital Projects Group, Environmental Programs and Assessment Division, is seeking multiple Project Coordinators to join the team and coordinate the mitigation requirements of environmental assessments, represent the interests of Metrolinx on site and coordinate the relationship between the various consultants, contractors and stakeholders on infrastructure projects requiring Environmental approvals, mitigation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities : Managing the environmental mitigation and reporting aspects of projects through all stages of design and construction in terms of function, quality schedules and approvals in co-ordination with external and internal authorities.
Administering consultant agreements and construction contracts as they pertain to environmental mitigation and reporting of Metrolinx infrastructure expansion projects.
Identifying, developing, implementing, and recommending physical infrastructure programs with respect to environmental mitigation approvals and adhering to mitigation requirements.
Developing, conducting and recommending mitigation standards and procedures requirements for new technology in Environmental Assessments and in capital works projects.
Location : 10 Bay Street, TorontoFile Number : ENV003FA college diploma in Environmental / Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Planning / Environmental Management / Environmental Science) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of environmental engineering and / or environmental planning / management.
Minimum 5 years’ experience related to Environmental Assessments and compliance within the planning, design and construction of transit facilities, interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and co-ordinating contracted engineering projects.
Proficiency in the use of project management software and computer applications is essential.Detailed knowledge of project management including cost control, scheduling, codes, standards, specifications, corporate policies and procedures and applicable environmental legislation.
Thorough understanding of the Transit Project Assessment Process, Ontario and Canadian Environmental Assessment processes, Environmental Protection Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Convention Act, Planning Act and Class Environmental Assessments (GO Transit and MTO).
Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and analytical ability are a must.
A valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required to travel to various site locations, meetings, operational facilities, etc.
