Duties / Accountabilities
Provides trade-specific HSEQ advice and training for all employees.
Identifies training and development needs for General Supervisors and trades employees. Responsible for maintaining General Supervisor succession plans and identifies opportunities for General Supervisor on-
the-job learning through rotational assignments.
Conducts performance evaluations on General Supervisors, Chargehands and Apprentices as required, in partnership with Area Managers and / or SOC Managers.
Conducts root cause analysis for trade barriers slowing down production or causing quality concerns downstream in production.
Reviews performance data, solicits feedback from trades and selects target processes for trade specific process development.
Assists with identifying appropriate workforce planning and works with planning teams to ensure accurate workforce plans are develop.
Ensure trades workers adhere to regulatory procedures and standards (ABS / DNV / Lloyds, etc.) and statutory bodies regarding inspections, tests, and compliance with class survey and statutory requirements.
Responsible for keeping up-to-date on new trade technology, certifications, methods and procedures; maintains and develops training material accordingly.
Develops processes and procedures for quality installations, data collection, data distribution, data analysis and corrective action plans.
Facilitates cross SOC quality process issues and ensure resolution / communication feedback.
Establishes equipment protection policies and procedures in conjunction with Manager, Facilities.
Education and Experience
High school graduate or equivalent
Applicable trade certifications and qualifications for performance and inspection of work
Advanced education in trade with 5 years related work experience.
Proficient knowledge of production responsibilities specific to shipbuilding (welding, metal fabrication, electrical, pipefitting, paint / sandblasting, mechanical, rigging).
Skills and Knowledge and Required Competencies
Prior supervisory experience highly desired
Experience in the application of behavioral based safety
Strong written, verbal and electronic communication skills
Demonstrates ability to make mature and timely job site decision.
