What is the opportunity?

As a member of the I&TS IT Senior Leadership Team, this role has overall accountability to establish strategic direction and provide thought leadership, oversight, and portfolio management for a significant number of diverse and highly complex systems that support I&TS applications globally for the purposes of Custody and Private Capital Services through the use of Agile capabilities and based on priorities set by Product and Client Experience Management as well as T&O Strategy.

The role leads and manages the development, maintenance and support activities related to the portfolio to ensure the stability, safety and sustainability of the I&TS services.

Participates in strategic and portfolio planning to ensure I&TS IT delivers on its commitments to stakeholders in accordance with client and operational timelines and that any competing priorities or constraints are identified and resolved effectively.

Partners with business and external clients to identify technology opportunities for existing and new clients. Aligns business strategy with T&O strategy and partners with T&O peer teams to enable effective delivery.

Develops talent across I&TS IT globally.

What will you do?

Primary Responsibilities :

Strategy & Planning :

  • Sets strategic direction in accordance with I&TS Business and T&O strategy
  • Works with Architecture and various Business / Operations partners to achieve strategic business objectives.
  • Aligns team to best practices to optimize the performance and productivity Technology and Operations (T&O) business strategies and priorities.
  • Contributes to I&TS Technology strategy and future Target Operating Model
  • Manages the maintenance and support of a portfolio of diverse and complex applications that are of critical strategic impact and organizational significance to I&TS globally.
  • Facilitates project planning activities and integrate individual project strategies into an overall strategy to ensure the effective execution of projects within the I&TS IT portfolio of initiatives.
  • Participates in portfolio and financials planning and oversight.
  • Share experiences, insights, and is responsible for the portfolio budget and the development of operating plans.
  • Establishes priorities and documents staffing requirements
  • Portfolio Management :

  • Works with members of the SMT to manage a coordinated project file for all initiatives across I&TS IT, including technology currency and resiliency
  • Provides leadership and expert counsel in establishing and implementing standards, guidelines and best practices for the development and deployment of solutions.
  • Leads the technical development and implementation of key development projects within the assigned budget.
  • Works with project leaders engaged in internal and client-facing projects to ensure deliverables are met on time, on budget, and in accordance with I&TS IT, T&O and RBC policies and standards and adheres to quality targets.
  • Contributes to the reporting on the status of projects; reviews project. activities, project logs and assessments to ensure any conflicts, constraints or deviations from project plans or budgets are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Resolves complex issues and conflicts (including architectural direction versus project constraints), escalates to executive level when required.
  • Contributes to executive reporting, identifying risks and issues for attention, and developing recommendations.
  • Change Leadership and Communication :

  • Creates effective interfaces and communities with project teams, application leaders, and internal / external clients to support optimal and timely application-related communications.
  • Provides members of the senior management team with timely updates on all material / strategic issues.
  • Develops communication plans and materials to support regular communication, with consistent messaging, to all applicable stakeholders.
  • Identifies risks associated with I&TS IT application portfolio and facilitate resolution of challenges or development of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to support the timely and effective execution of work.
  • What do you need to succeed?

    Must haves :

  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in leading and managing major technology platforms in high transaction, large / complex and matrixed business environments.
  • Experience of managing large budgets and teams across multiple time-zones & jurisdictions.
  • Exceptional planning and problem solving skills.
  • Strong collaborator in a fast paced environment with an emphasis on commercial awareness and technical solutioning.
  • Experience of managing and modernizing an evolving technical landscape.
  • Legacy technology
  • Next Gen technology APIs, Cloud, Dev Ops, AI
  • Strong communication and relationship management capabilities.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to team of application portfolio owners to achieve a culture of high performance and superior individual, team results.
  • Build management / leadership capability on team, coach and mentor managers, and hold managers accountable for their work.
  • Facilitate collaboration across I&TS IT to optimize results, in alignment with the I&TS IT and T&O business strategies and priorities.
  • Provide coaching and support to build capabilities across I&TS IT.
  • PMP Certification
