About the Program

Successful candidates will receive a scholarship award of $4,000 to cover tuition costs (renewable up to four years). In addition, each recipient is considered for a paid summer or part-time (throughout the year) work placement at the Bank of Canada.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • You must identify as a member of a visible minority group or racialized group or as a person of colour. You may wish to consult the definitions included in Canada’s Employment Equity Act and the Canadian Race Relations Foundation .
  • Overall average mark of a minimum 70 per cent
  • You are pursuing studies in a field that is related to the work of the Bank of Canada. These include (but are not limited to) : economics and finance : economics, computer science, mathematics or statistics, commerce / business administration with a finance major
  • administration and operations : financial services, administration and business, project management, human resources, communications and web communications, internal audit, currency production, knowledge and information management, security
  • information technology and cyber security : software development, network engineering, solution architecture, project management, business analysis, cyber security
  • Possibility of Work Placement :

    In addition, each recipient is considered for a paid summer or part-time (throughout the year) work placement at the Bank of Canada.

    Work placement opportunities are not guaranteed and will be determined based on the recipient’s field of study and the Bank’s departmental business requirements.

    The majority of student work placements are at the Bank’s Head Office in Ottawa; however, scholarship recipients may be offered the option of working at one of the Bank’s regional offices : Halifax, Montréal, Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver.

    For your application to be considered you must upload :

  • a current curriculum vitae
  • a cover letter (up to 500) about yourself, your decision to pursue your field of study and your career interests
  • official or unofficial transcripts of their undergraduate academic record. Relevant courses you have attended must be clearly identified by their course titles.
  • Additional information

  • English or French essential
  • Security level required : Reliability
  • If you are selected as one of the top five candidates, you will be invited to an interview (either in person, by phone or virtually).
