About the Opportunity

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) is seeking an anesthesiologist to work with a team of eight anesthesiologists.

Valley Regional Hospital (VRH) opened its doors to patients in 1992. The hospital serves the people of Kings and Annapolis Counties, and provides specialty services as a referral centre for the Annapolis Valley and other areas of Western Nova Scotia.

Located in Kentville, VRH is a 137 inpatient bed facility that provides inpatient, outpatient, and satellite care to approximately 80,000 residents.

The facility completes approximately 5,800 cases / year with 800 deliveries / year. There is a full surgical program with after-hours surgical coverage for emergency and non-elective procedures.

  • Responsibilities

  • work a full scope of practice as an anesthesiologist to provide care to the patients within Western Zone
  • participating in call shifts
  • provide support to the Western Zone if required, which includes day-time coverage and occasional overnight / weekend coverage.
  • be responsible to the Zone Anesthesia Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
  • full-time
  • equal participation in on call schedule (1 : 8)
  • Qualifications

  • all applicants must be eligible for licensure with the (CPSNS)
  • all specialists must be eligible for certification with the (RCPSC)
  • membership with the (CMPA)
