The Department of World Languages and Literatures in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University is inviting applications for a full-time continuing faculty position in Spanish language acquisition at the rank of Lecturer starting as early as November 1, 2020.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in hand by the appointment start date, preferably in a field related to learning technology and design, and the pedagogy of language acquisition.
In addition to a proven record teaching Spanish as a foreign language, preference will be given to candidates with expertise in educational technologies, instructional pedagogy and design.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years full-time experience teaching language and culture at the post-secondary level.
While excellence in teaching and service are the primary criteria for this position, the preferred candidate will be able to engage students in concert with Simon Fraser University’s ongoing commitment to the development of new learning technologies.
In addition, applicants should demonstrate their potential contribution to student recruitment, retention, and success with respect to the university’s highly diverse campus environment.

World Languages and Literatures is a newly established department located at the university’s Burnaby campus. Alongside modern language education in Arabic, Chinese, German, Persian, and Japanese, the department offers undergraduate degrees in the cross-cultural study of World Literature.
This is an entry-level position. Only those holding or those eligible to be appointed to the rank will be considered. The position is subject to availability of funding.
