South Shore Eye Clinic is in need of a dynamic and energetic person to join our team. Certification is preferred but not necessary.

Training is provided on-site with the possibility of sponsored certified training in the future. This is a full time position with benefits and competitive wages.

Overall Position Description :

The Optometric Assistant is the first point of contact with clinic patients including but not limited to front desk, communication (both incoming and outgoing communication via mail, email, and telephone), pretest, working in the lab, dispensing and general assistance with patient needs.

Specific Responsibilities of the job :


  • Neutralization, repair and adjustment of eyeglasses
  • Provide patients with ophthalmic frame and lens recommendations
  • Administratively

  • Assisting at the front desk
  • Accurately processing patient payments
  • Submitting patient insurance claims
  • Answering the phone
  • Out-going patient phone calls
  • Responding to emails
  • Processing mail
  • Pretest
  • Lab assistance
  • Dispensing patients
  • Any other duties and responsibilities required of all staff in the basic delivery of patient care

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Experience in the health care field
  • Proven positive patient / customer service
  • Strong sales background
  • Positive and pleasant demeanor
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Experience processing various types of payments including insurance claims
  • Ability to respond appropriately in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work evenings and Saturdays
