Essential Responsibilities

The CM Specialist for New Product Introduction (NPI) Alpha phase, is responsible to ensure that technical execution of the Alpha changes / variances are properly aligned with effectivities and readily prepared for implementation to support Alpha build delivery schedules.

Manage NPI Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) from initiation through disposition by performing the following tasks :

  • Ensure the affected documents are listed on the change, interchangeability is evaluated, and part number control is applied;
  • Ensuring accurate traceability of product configurations;
  • Confirm that the Product Lead has listed the effectivity and provide feedback as required;
  • Provide stock, Work In Progress (WIP) and on-order information in accordance with the ECO effectivity;
  • Organize and prioritize the changes for their implementation;
  • Review completed ECOs to ensure forms are filled in correctly, appropriate signatures have been acquired, and sufficient information is available to execute the change;
  • Validate updated parts and documents to ensure conformance with ECO description of change, document relationships are correctly established, document change records are attached, and all other necessary information is present and correct for release of the change in Product Development Management (PDM) and ERP systems;
  • Revise 'As-Plans' based on change effectivity;
  • Review and apply variances (RFV's) to 'As-Plan' records;
  • Review items being flipped to Beta to ensure open Alpha ECO's have been completed;
  • Ensure corresponding drawings are flipped to Beta with the parts;
  • Ensure the BOM's of items flipping to Beta are ready to flip to a Beta stage (non-alpha parts on the BOM's);
  • Ensure all parent assemblies of BOM's flipping to Beta are included in the Beta ECO
