This job is diverse in the mechanical ability to perform general plant operator duties. Work includes tank truck and railcar vessel opening, loading and unloading, operation of pumps, piping, valves and general plant upkeep and maintenance.
Also, assists the Acid and Shift Utility Operators or other plant personnel as needed. This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
This job consists of outside elements where radiant heat or cold is normal work environment, and rotating shifts.
Contribute to the day to day safe and efficient operation of the plant
Conduct Barge / Ship offloading, loading of products
Conduct rail movements of both empty and loaded rail cars
Load HCl and Caustic railcars and operate the associated equipment in this area
Liaise with Maintenance for work order preparation
Monitor, troubleshoot and follow up on process issues
Maintain plant documentation including a shift log, reports, etc.
Work co operatively and communicate effectively with others in the production facility
Conduct safety and environmental inspections and report deficiencies as required
Complete other duties as required from time to time.
4th Class Power Engineer Certificate
3 5 years industrial experience, preferably chemical manufacturing related industry
Commit to line of progression from Operator 6 to Operator 1 Control Room Operator
ABB (Bailey) DCS experience would be definite assets
Strong computer skills required
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Self motivated, collaborative, goal oriented and a team player
Able to work independently and without close supervision.
PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS :
Must be able to pass the Railway Safety Medical
Physical ability to stoop, lift, stretch and stand as required for the performance of the job duties both indoors and outdoors
Must be able to wear all required PPE including a full face mask respirator or SCBA when required
