    The Diverse and New Businesses team mission is about aspiring to be the’ bank for the diverse and new business segments by serving additional clients and helping launch more new businesses.

    Ultimately, BDC will support Canada in transforming the demographic make-up of SME ownership to be more reflective of Canada’s population.


    Joining the new Diverse and New Businesses team, and working in a matrix and agile model, the Senior Advisor, Marketing Communications, will create and review promotional marketing and communications content for multiple channels and initiatives with external partners.

    The successful candidate will also increase awareness of BDC’s partnerships and offerings by developing integrated marketing plans and orchestrating successful launches.

    In addition, as a marketing expert, the successful candidate will provide marketing guidance to all levels of the organization.

    The core responsibilities include :

    Acting as a marketing project lead, and working closely with the Diverse and New Businesses Impact team and lead to create and develop communications tactics and marketing tools to promote or launch products and initiatives, including website content and sales support material (e.

    g., talking points, FAQs, emails, brochures, presentations, etc.)

    Writing marketing briefs to guide the development of Marketing Communications assets

    Liaising with external partners to review their marketing and communication assets to ensure consistent messaging amongst organizations; flag risks as required

    Contributing to BDC’s marketing content development and ensuring its alignment across all channels by using and enforcing the approach and style guide

    Monitoring any potential reputational risk for BDC, on an ongoing basis, and working with BDC’s External Communications team to provide sound advice, corporate key messages, and written material (e.

    g., news releases and Q&As for external use)

    Ensuring that the most relevant marketing tools are available and that their content is frequently updated

    Ensuring consistency of brand positioning and messages in all communications

    Review of partner marketing material and flags risks when necessary


    Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or any related field

    Minimum of seven years of experience in writing and editing business marketing and communications materials

    Experience in creating marketing briefs and plans, as well as launching products

    Ability to create engaging and convincing marketing communications

    Strong leadership abilities, including polished communication and negotiation skills

    A successful track record of launching products and campaigns

    Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously

    Familiarity with agile methodologies and agile workplace (considered an asset)

    Autonomous, excellent judgement and initiative

    Bilingualism (French and English) is required

    Travel (may be required)
