Senior Marketing Specialist Communications & Marketing

The Marketing team are obsessed with the customer experience and relentlessly improve the touch points consumers’ have with our brand.

They are creators and instigators who collaborate widely across the organization to remove friction points in the customer journey.

They are focused on driving performance and engagement and ensuring we reach our member experience and commercial goals.

The Senior Marketing Specialist leads, plans and implements the programs and campaigns in the marketing plan with key stakeholders and ensures this happens in the most efficient and targeted way, while staying on-strategy, on-time, on-budget and aligned with MEC’s standards.

This individual is relentlessly focused on the consumer experiences and ensures this is top of mind at all times.

What you do :

  • Plan and forecast marketing activities to achieve business goals. Includes seeking out new channels, analysing sales, consumer & market trends and presenting recommendations to the Director of Marketing and Marketing Manager that allow MEC to provide relevant, new and exciting consumer experiences.
  • Support the Marketing Manager with vendor stakeholders’ relationships to execute and timely launch campaigns utilising Co-op funding to meet joint strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with Merchant partners to ensure alignment to business goals.

  • Work directly with internal stakeholders in Merchandise, Planning and Inventory to ensure alignment to launch in market on time, in time and in full.
  • Actively update all stakeholders and share information. Coach teams to reach goals.

  • Provide recommendations to the Marketing Manager for future strategic initiatives through competitive and financial analysis
  • Mapping of the customer journey to ensure the journey across all channels is aligned and consistent by thinking in an omnichannel way.
  • Collaborate with teams such as Digital Marketing, Visual Brand Presentation, Ecommerce and Creative, Community Investment and Operations to develop operational tactics that align to MEC’s customer experience strategy

  • Give input into and develop marketing and creative briefs in conjunction with the Art Director and Production Manager that allow the stakeholders within the agile teams to execute on the marketing plan.
  • Inform the creative process, ensuring creative concepts are on brand and inline with the creative brief and overall strategy, to ensure a frictionless customer journey.
  • Collaborate, influence and strategically lead to gain alignment with cross functional teams.
  • Translate complex data and abstract trends into insights that can be used to develop marketing strategies to meet communication and business objectives.
  • Develop targets and measurement frameworks for briefs and enroll cross functional teams for tracking and reporting of campaigns
  • Assist in analyzing marketing data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies
  • Stay up to date with Market and consumer trends relevant to the brand for ensuring campaigns and promotions are relevant within each market
  • Maintain awareness on best practice marketing techniques / tools to achieve successful campaigns and promotions.
  • What you bring :

  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • 4-6 years related experience.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree is required. Specialization in Business, Marketing or Communications
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Experience and understanding of Google Analytics
  • Relentlessly focused on consumer experience and understanding of consumer behaviour
  • Creative thinker, with a critical mind with strong business acumen.
  • A deep understanding of data management and customer flows
  • Be an exceptional team player and able to work cross functionally within agile teams and with other stakeholders within C&M and other departments in MEC.
  • Coach and support teams to reach their goals.

  • Be able to influence and enlist peers to help drive customer experience. Have gravitas and be experienced as an authority.
  • Familiarity in social analytics, specifically Facebook insights and Twitter analytics.
  • Proficiency with Excel, especially around creating reports.
  • Ability to interact with different sources of data and develop insights and recommendations from it.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity and be able to react in an action focused manner
  • Excellent problem-solving skills you can handle unexpected challenges and know how to mitigate risk.
  • Excellent communication skills be able to distill complex topics to their key essence for non-expert audiences
