Major Responsibilities :

  • Provides strategic, business and project planning, and policy development for the City of Toronto's real estate holdings.
  • A particular focus is contributing to the development of portfolio strategies for City properties.

  • Compiles information on City properties from various sources for purposes of planning and analysis
  • Liaises with Real Estate Services staff, other Divisions, consultants, government agencies, and third parties when reviewing sites
  • Performs site visits, site analysis and detailed planning reviews
  • Develops highest and best use recommendations for properties and projects
  • Contributes to the business unit's policy development work related to the City's land holdings
  • Requisitions necessary resources, materials and services to complete projects. Drafts reports and prepares presentation materials, including for Committees, as required
  • Attends meetings with internal committees, ABCDs and the community to consult on and represent Real Estate Services properties and planning and development projects.
  • Prepares RFP or RFQ documents when required, responds to bidder inquiries, and answers questions related to projects
  • Requisitions necessary resources, materials and services to complete projects
  • Prepares and monitors schedules on progress of all assigned projects; and
  • Responds to inquiries, requests and problems from other City divisions, and third parties as required
  • Key Qualifications :

    Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to :

  • Experience evaluating real estate assets using market data, mapping tools, title information and building data; examining Zoning and Official Plan information to determine impact on facility plans and asset values.
  • Experience developing financial models in support of revitalization projects for real estate assets; ability to conduct and review of business cases for real estate developments and portfolio optimization studies.
  • Experience coordinating with staff in planning, construction management, property management and external resources; ability to read and understand architectural drawings and to understand the diverse real estate needs of multiple business units.
  • Experience working on project teams and coordinating work programming / scheduling to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Post-secondary education and / or equivalent experience in urban planning, business, finance or real estate.
  • You must also have :

  • Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with a particular emphasis on excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure, coordinate multiple projects and to meet tight deadlines; and
  • The ability to provide work direction to other staff and to direct the work of consultants as required.
