An employee-owned, Canadian company, Associated Engineering provides a broad base of consulting engineering, environmental, planning and landscape architecture services in the infrastructure, water, transportation, environmental, building, energy, and asset management sectors.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Roadways Technologist in our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will join a team in providing design services for a variety of public and private sector clients with a focus on highways, roads, and transportation-related infrastructure.

Responsibilities include the following :

  • Assisting in supervising other technologists, including distributing, balancing and checking CAD / Civil 3D work.
  • Geometric design and detail design of provincial highways and municipal roadworks in Civil 3D.
  • Coordinating drawing production and CAD processes on large and medium sized multi-discipline projects.
  • QA / QC of construction drawings.
  • Design collaboration and ensuring implementation and compliance of company and client Civil 3D and CAD standards and procedures within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Assisting and mentoring other Civil 3D / CAD Technicians, Designers, and Engineers.

    Job Requirements

    What you will bring to the table :

  • Civil Engineering or Design and Drafting Technology diploma from an accredited technical institute.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D is essential.
  • Proficiency in drafting using AutoCad and Civil 3D is essential.
  • Advanced roadway design skills using AutoCAD Civil3D, proficiency in geometric, grading and drainage design, pipe networks, and corridors are essential.
  • Proficiency in importing survey files, creating DTM’s, preparing survey base plans and setting up design folders is essential.
  • Good understanding of BC MoTI Design Standards is an asset.
  • Experience in relevant software programs including AutoTurn, AutoDesk vehicle tracking, and Infraworks.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Committed team player that will succeed in a leadership role.
