Overview

Reporting to the Heavy Duty Mechanic, the Apprentice Mechanic’s main responsibility is to be able to diagnose and complete repairs & service on a variety of company heavy equipment (Graders, Loaders, Pavers, Milling Machines, Packers / Rollers, Heavy Trucks, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose & complete repairs on company equipment
  • Confer with Mechanic regarding all repairs and the extent of repairs necessary
  • Maintain a high level of Housekeeping
  • Follow and adhere to all the Company’s safety procedures and directives
  • Responsible to ensure all work is completed in a safe manner
  • Perform work in either shop or outdoor construction site settings
  • Work with other shop or field personnel
  • Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image
  • Assist with other duties as required from time to time
  • Qualifications

  • Willing to learn and take direction
  • Must be able to communicate well with co-workers
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a preference given to those holding a class 3 with air, or higher
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies
  • Work overtime as required
  • 3rd or 4th year Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice
  • High School Graduate preferred, but not mandatory
