Sunnybrook Research Institute Project Manager
Temporary full time, 1 year contract with possibility of renewal
Sunnybrook Research Institute is seeking a Project Manager with strong leadership skills in the Department of Anesthesia at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Co-Directors of Research and several Principal Investigators to develop, manage, and coordinate all aspects of the research program (clinical and preclinical).
Post-secondary degree in science or a health-relate disciple (Min. Masters or PhD)
At least 2 years of clinical and / or laboratory research experience, managerial experience is an asset
Prior experience with Health Canada trials
Ability to create and manage budgets, spreadsheets, databases
Ability to supervise staff of 7-10 people
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a timely manner.
Strong financial and accounting skills
Strong computer skills and competence with PubMed, Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint), NVivo, SPSS, Adobe
Willing to travel between the two hospital campuses and the University of Toronto, St. George campus
Responsibilities to include :
Manage all aspects of clinical studies and assist with pre-clinical projects from conception to completion including study design, grant writing and submission, REB / Health Canada submission, budget development, acquisition of materials and supplies, identify personnel requirements, and manuscript preparation
Recruit, train and supervise research personnel, graduate students and summer students
Develop, maintain and oversee research budgets
Report and track progress of research within the Department and prepare reports.
Maintain research databases and perform audits to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Assist with literature searches, data analysis, abstracts, posters and manuscript preparation.
Liaise between PIs, Health Canada, REB, legal services and external stakeholders to facilitate timely and efficient communication and task completion
Ensure that all research personnel comply with International Good Clinical Practice Guidelines, applicable national and international regulatory requirements as well as the institutional and divisional standard operating procedures
Protect and maintain participant confidentiality at all times.
Perform other administrative tasks as necessary.
