The Role

The Reboot Plus Facilitator will :

  • Assist and provide essential skills support through small group facilitation or one to one coaching to at-risk youth;
  • Provide hope-centred career development training;
  • Provide orientation to College services and the post-secondary environment;
  • Work with Employer Liaison, project partners and community stakeholders to connect participants to employers for informational interviews.
  • FACILITATION :

  • Provide instruction and activities to increase essential skills, determine potential career paths, and orient to College and post-secondary environment;
  • Evaluate learners at regular intervals and provide feedback;
  • Encourage peer mentorship and learning in small group sessions;
  • Support learners to overcome perceived barriers;
  • Provide information, support and program guidance to Training Group staff, project partners and stakeholders involved in the program;
  • Facilitate in online and blended modes according to COVID-19 pandemic protocols.
  • CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT :

  • Scaffold learning, applying essential skills methodology to build essential skills;
  • Integrate authentic workplace materials relative to the learner’s goal;
  • Create self-directed learning modules;
  • Follow the principles of hope-centred career development;
  • Help participants to discover educational and career pathways;
  • Prepare participants for informational interviews with employers;
  • Integrate curriculum materials and resources provided by project partners.
  • ASSESSMENT :

  • Invigilate and interpret essential skills assessments (500 point IALS scale) in relation to learners’ occupational goals;
  • Complete written assessment report with recommendations;
  • Invigilate and interpret Personality Dimensions and Holland Codes;
  • Invigilate and interpret Myers-Briggs Type Inventory;
  • INDIVIDUAL COACHING :

  • Support individual learners to achieve essential skills gains;
  • Meet with clients to conduct informal assessment and develop customized individual learning plans;
  • Assign self-directed learning modules and monitor progress;
  • Provide coaching to achieve desired learning to a range of clients including those with multiple barriers;
  • Conduct formative and summative assessment and adjust individual learning plans when needed;
  • Assist individuals to develop realistic continuous Education and Career Action Plan .
  • ADMINISTRATION :

  • Maintain participant progress records adhering to privacy requirements;
  • Maintain organized electronic file system of curriculum with instruction guides;
  • Liaise with research team and provide information to them as required;
  • Communicate effectively and work with all project partners and stakeholders as required;
  • Participate in team meetings;
  • Complete reports and paperwork as required;
  • Contribute to ISO 9001 : 2015 Quality Management System;
  • Assist with marketing and delivery of presentations to potential participants, school districts, employers, boards of trade, and chambers of commerce.
  • To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Education or Psychology) or equivalent experience;
  • Experience in employment programs or CCDP certificate;
  • Thorough knowledge of career exploration platforms in British Columbia;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the BC post-secondary system, particularly of Douglas College;
  • Familiarity with Essential & Employability Skills resources and tools;
  • Experience with group facilitation and individual coaching;
  • Experience working with at-risk youth;
  • Experience working on research projects;
  • Experience with digital learning management systems, such as Blackboard and Moodle;
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check. A criminal record will not automatically result in your application for employment being denied.
