Role Summary :
Reinsurance has been an important risk transfer tool as well as a vehicle used in financial engineering at Sun Life. We have amassed over 300 reinsurance treaties supporting our inforce block of insurance.
This currently represents approximately $500 million in ceded premium paid to our reinsurance partners. We believe some of these reinsurance arrangements are no longer providing the benefit to Sun Life that was originally envisioned.
This role will lead the financial analysis of reinsurance treaties associated with Sun Life’s inforce individual life and health business.
The purpose of this work is to identify methods to create improved financial results for Sun Life. This can include recommendations to deploy capital to recapture or restructure existing treaties.
Additionally, this role will co-ordinate with the Pricing teams to investigate the business implications of moving to the new IFRS financial reporting standards.
A detailed understanding of IFRS will provide insight into how reinsurance will perform before and after the change to accounting standards.
Main Accountabilities :
The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
