StarTech.com is looking for a Team Lead Product Compliance on our Product Management Team.
Reporting to the VP - Product Development, this role will work cross-functionally to serve as the subject matter expert on the StarTech.
com product portfolio across all regions. Examples include but are not limited to Regulatory CE, FCC, RCM , Safety UL, PSE, BSI , Efficiency MEPS / GEMS, NRCAN, etc.
Health and Environment RoHS, REACh, Prop 65 , Social Conflict Minerals , Trade, and Packaging.
This role will work closely with the legal team in understanding the legal framework (e.g. sanctions) for all countries, and is available as an in office role for someone in London, or with flexible work options for candidates located elsewhere in SW Ontario.

In this position you will :
Research, develop and maintain Legal Compliance requirements for the StarTech.com product portfolio across all regions and develop necessary documentation and reports to manage compliance across all products and regions
Maintain a clear understanding of local / regional regulations and communicate these regulations effectively to departments, employees, and external associations with varying priorities, including government contacts and trade associations
Provide leadership to the Product Compliance team in the execution of compliance strategy for all markets and products
Provide coaching and mentorship to the team and assist with the management of their day-to-day activities
Maintain accurate compliance data and status for each product in each market
Provide technical direction and execution on all compliance matters including educating cross-functional teams (Product Development, Product Management, Vendor Management, Supply Chain, Sales, etc.
as well as external vendor / suppliers resulting in full compliance
Facilitate design reviews and provide direction to StarTech.com product teams on achieving compliance
Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate documentation (i.e. Letter of Compliance and / or Declaration of Conformity) as well as regulatory expertise to internal and external customers
What you can show us :
3-year Technical Diploma or University Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar area
Minimum of 5 years of International Regulatory Compliance experience in a testing lab or consumer electronics engineering development environment
Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory / leadership role, and familiarity with coaching and engaging employees
Strong knowledge of global consumer electronics, EMC / EMI and Product Safety standards such as UL, FCC, CE etc. is a must
Understanding of environmental sustainability requirements such as RoHS, Reach, Energy efficiency etc. is preferred
Understanding of Wire and Cable product, Wireless and networking products, power supplies, computer hardware and accessories, and the required regulatory requirements is a strong plus
Advanced research skills, with the ability to review lengthy and complex documents and legal / technical jargon
Ability to effectively communicate complex legal and compliance regulations and impact analysis to key stakeholders
