The Infrastructure Engineering division is currently looking for a Fire Protection Technician - Mechanical Systems for its National Capital Region office, to act as technical specialist and design lead.

Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and supervision of fire sprinkler, standpipe, fire alarm, foam system, deluge system, and other system plans to ensure that they conform to applicable mechanical engineering standards
  • Design, review, and supervision of fire water system including but not limited to fire water tanks, fire water pumps, fire water network, and associated equipment to ensure that they conform to applicable mechanical engineering standards
  • Prepare basis of design and technical specification for fire protection systems as applicable for the projects
  • Writing technical specifications and reports required for project implementation
  • Treat mechanical deficiencies
  • Perform site inspections on mechanical installations
  • Qualifications

  • College degree / diploma in Mechanical engineering or Fire Protection;
  • Registered member of the Canadian fire safety association (NFPA and / or SFPE) is a must
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical / Fire Protection Engineering
  • Must have a solid understanding of engineering of building systems preferably for academic and research institutions, health care, offices, municipal infrastructure and industrial facilities
  • Project experience in the municipal and government sector (provincial and federal
  • Market knowledge of the National Capital region and local industry
  • Bilingualism French and English (written and spoken) an asset.
