Job Description

  • In accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA;
  • as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

    Reporting to the Director, Health Information Management, the Regional Manager is responsible for overseeing the management, development and implementation of VIHA policy in alignment with service delivery and operations for records management, records processing, and release of information and transcription functions throughout VIHA.

    The Regional Manager ensures that VIHA s paper-based and electronic administrative record management systems are consistently applied across the health authority and supports the transition from a hybrid chart to fully electronic.

    The Regional Manager, with possession of health informatics knowledge and experience, provides the tools to successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders in support of the transformation of the Health Records department as it stands today.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education, Training And Experience

    A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Sciences, Health Care Administration, or a related study, and seven (7) years of progressively more responsible information management experience in a comparable role in the health care environment.

  • ITIL training and experience an asset.

  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage relationships with strategic partners and solution providers.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of health care and the care process as it relates to records management and the electronic health record.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to the needs of stakeholders supported by an awareness of the impact of action.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with multi-faceted projects and stringent timelines.
  • Proven team player, contributes to team goals, encourages and supports team members and ability to work effectively in a virtual team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with people at all levels and with varying backgrounds.
  • Ability to prepare effective presentations and train others.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence.
  • In-depth understanding of health services and record management operations.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
