One post-doctoral position is available to develop nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) methods for analyzing Cannabis seed oil content and constituents.
Research will be carried out in collaboration with industrial and university partners, with the selected candidate spending at least thirty (30) percent of their time on-site at the industrial partner location (Supra THC Services / Valens AgriTech Limited, Kelowna, British Columbia).
The project will include developing and optimizing a chemical fingerprint of Cannabis seed oil using NMR, developing a quantitation method for key metabolites present in the seed oils, isolating oils and other metabolites from cultivars and strains of plants developed by project partners, and use multivariate statistical models of the NMR fingerprints to identify elite strains for further study.

The position is jointly funded through Mitacs Accelerate with a salary of $45,000 per year plus full University benefits.
