We're looking for a strategic and experienced Director of Operations to lead our production and shipping functions and teams.
You will be responsible for implementing strategies and operational goals in order to exceed expectations for product quality, cost, maximizing efficiency, optimizing processes and driving operational excellence.
Strategic Vision and Management : Contribute to the strategic planning process.Plan and manage departmental budgets.Long term planning for capacity growth;
including creating business cases for new investments and investigating third-party storage or shipping facilities as examples.
Work with team to develop and implement process efficiencies to reduce COGS.Optimize inventory turns while minimizing out of stock
Leadership : Hiring, retaining and managing a happy and productive teamManage quarterly roadmaps and goal setting sessions, and all other team-
related budgetary responsibilities inclusive of compensation and team building;Ensure a safe and healthy work environmentDemonstrate and live the Core Values with your teamsBuild and maintain positive relationships with other departments, external partners and vendors
Operational Management : Total responsibility for the Production and Shipping departmentsOversee the operations, facility and maintenanceSupervise materials flow, inventory and storageOversee production and shipping departments processes and outputOwn the relevant ERP data and processesOversee machinery procurement and maintenanceManage the annual NHP submission and all related needs to ensure compliance Ensure compliance with all operational and safety regulations and standardsEstablish appropriate inbound and outbound freight solutionsManage operational projects and process improvements
Experience & Qualifications :
5+ years experience in manufacturing and operational management, preferably in the food or cosmetics industry
A proven background in lean manufacturing and process enhancement
Familiarization with ERP systems, such as Netsuite
Knowledge of Alberta Health and Safety regulations
Ability to manage budgets and take numbers from the boardroom to the floor
Can lead a team with grit and humility, while delivering on targets and creating a cohesive team
A demonstrated ability to plan and deliver on projects that will accelerate growth, sustainability and operational efficiencies
Have completed post-secondary education in a related field, such as operations management, business or hold relevant experience in lieu.
