Job Summary :
The incumbent identifies policy needs, recommends new or revised policy responses, and coordinates policy development.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Work proactively with senior managers and municipal staff to identify policy needs and recommend appropriate policy responses to address these needs.
Research and coordinate the development and approval of policy instruments including : bylaws, Council policies, Administrative Directives, and procedures.
Prepare, coordinate, and advise on the development of materials to facilitate decision making by Council and Administration.
Review draft policy materials prepared by departments and make recommendations for improvement.
Maintain the City’s policy framework and serve as a SharePoint site administrator.
Ensure City of Whitehorse policies remain compliant with evolving Statutory and Common law.
Ensure adherence to policies and standards throughout the City.
Provide advice and expertise to all departments.
Coordinate strategic planning initiatives with all departments.
Evaluate City of Whitehorse policies and conducts the annual Citizen Survey.
Foster and maintain effective relationships among internal and external stakeholders.
Act as Manager, Legislative Services as assigned.
Follow so far as is reasonably practicable, safety procedures and standards.
