Responsibilities :
Assist with preparation of tax reorganizations and strategies for Canadian-owned private businesses involving estate, trust and shareholder planning
Collect and organize the required financial and tax information
Prepare draft legal instructions, client reporting letters and supporting working papers and memos
Identify tax issues, conduct tax analyses and research, and propose solutions
Prepare tax election forms and returns in connection with corporate reorganizations
Prepare related accounting entries and tax filing instructions to effect transactions
Continue to develop client knowledge and technical and analytical skills by actively seeking and applying project feedback, attending internal and external training sessions and courses, and keeping apprised of tax news and updates
Respond to follow-up queries and information requests from the CRA with respect to the tax plans executed
Contribute to development of new ideas and approaches to improve processes and efficiency
Proactively monitor own progress of professional development and initiate discussions and assistance to formalize plans to achieve goals
Qualifications :
Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation is a must
Currently enrolled in or completion of the three-year In-Depth Tax Program
At least 3 years of tax experience working in a public accounting firm
Experience with Caseware, Profile, TaxPrep and Quickbooks
Proficient in MS office including Excel and Powerpoint
Solid knowledge of Accounting and Canadian Tax
