Position Summary

Are you an experienced Rehabilitation Assistant looking to expand your skills into a community care setting? We have an opportunity for a Community Rehab Assistant at the Kimberley Health Centre (KMC) in Kimberley BC.

KMC is one of ten Primary Health Care Centres available within Interior Health communities. Primary Health Care Centres have a more comprehensive and coordinated approach to healthcare delivery.

Each centre has an interdisciplinary healthcare team that provides a range of services in a single site , a visit to a physiotherapist, pharmacist, or public health nurse.

The selection of services offered in each Primary Health Care Centre reflects the unique needs of its community. The types of services delivered depend on patient needs and on whether comparable services are available nearby.

The Community Rehabilitation Assistant functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team in meeting the needs of the client.

The Community Rehabilitation Assistant carries out rehabilitative treatment plans and programs, and assists the Therapist in monitoring and evaluating client’s progression.

The Community Rehabilitation Assistant assists clients with activities of daily living, and implements group and individual programs in clients’ homes and other community sites.

This is a casual opportunity which means there are no guaranteed hours of work - hours can vary from 0 to 37.5 hrs / wk.

Once hired into a casual positions, employees are eligible to apply internally on relief and permanent positions as they become available.

Education, Training and Experience :

Interior Health requires a candidate to have completed a two year, therapy assistant diploma program recognized by the Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant Education Accreditation Program ().

Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Current valid BC Driver’s License.
