Liability Verification and Claims Set-Up

  • Investigates reinsurance liability and confirms for all new claims. Includes looking up records in other databases, referencing treaties, and assistance from other departments.
  • Effectively executes claims transactions by entering new claims, processing changes, terminations, and adding memos, on all lines of business through the Claims Management System.
  • Payment Reconciliation and Processing

  • Supports the preparation of claims data for benefits and expense reimbursement. Requires analysis of data on source documents, claims matching searches, confirmation of benefit amount calculations, recalculation of total liability, liability verification and occasional assistance from other departments.
  • Communicates missing or late reported claims billings or expenses to the Account Managers, and maintains a timely flow of information by developing a relationship with clients and by conducting frequent follow-ups as required.
  • Thoroughly reviews information on bulk claims files. Provides necessary support in the performance of client and internal accounting claim payment reconciliation and year-end processing.
  • General Administrative Support

  • Responds to data inquiries and internal database queries, verifies data from claims listings, maintains paper files, and ensures that faxing and photocopying are performed within prescribed timelines.
  • Maintains the filing system within the Claims Department that is consistent with Munich Re’s Information Protection Policy by organizing filing cabinets, scheduling periodic purges and maintaining a record of offsite material.
  • Provides back-up support for other Claims Administrators.
  • Your profile

  • 2-3 years insurance / reinsurance administration or accounting or a background in Policy Administration.
  • Mathematical aptitude, advanced knowledge of Excel and Access (data transformation and manipulation) is required. Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Accurate data entry skills and the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Post-secondary education, Bilingual (English / French), and familiarity with both medical terminology and Life / Health insurance are preferred.
