About the role

n n n t n n n tReporting to the Manager, Applications and Security Engineering, the System Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for providing technical services, specialized advice, recommendations and support in the development, implementation, integration, and maintenance of Payments Canada’s IT infrastructure for both internal service delivery and external clients.

They participate in the identification, evaluation, and development of a series of technology standards used by Payments Canada as well as in activities associated with the periodic auditing of other IT areas.

In addition, they provide expertise and execution of technical project activities as part of the IT Infrastructure Team.

n n n t n n n t n n n t What you’ll be doing n n n t n n n t n t tAct as a SME for one or more of the core technologies : Microsoft Windows Technology (Windows Server and Active Directory), virtualization (VMware), storage (SAN), networking, and supporting tools for operations, monitoring and automation.

n t n t n t tPerform setup, testing, and implementation of various system infrastructure related hardware and software products and / or services.

n t n t n t tDraft, publish, and / or review various documentation, including the installation, operations, and user guides.

n t n t n t tMonitor various hardware and software products and services, perform periodic upgrades and fixes. Review and prioritize any emergency fixes released by the product vendors.

n t n t n t tProvide ongoing technical support for the technology supported, including hardware, software, and / or services implemented.

n t n t n t tOwn and resolve incidents, problems and requests assigned from the team’s queue using Payments Canada’s ticketing system (ServiceNow).

n t n t n t tCoordinate the timely escalation of problems to vendor organizations using the defined support channels. Monitor the progress of problems escalated to vendors.

n t n t n t tParticipate in the establishment and / or review of a series of Technology and Operations Standards for use at Payments Canada.

n t n t n t tParticipate in the research, evaluation, and identification of a series of strategic products and / or services required for the implementation of Technology Standards.

n t n t n t tDraft and produce documents associated with the technology and solutions supported by the team. n t n t n t tWork with colleagues and stakeholders to identify manual processes across Service Desk, network, and infrastructure as candidates for automation.

n t n t n t tDevelop and implement automation scripts and processes to increase operational efficiency. n t n t n t tIdentify and support effectiveness and efficiency improvement initiatives, with focus on automation.

n t n t n t tEstablish and maintain a series of support channels with various product and service vendors. n t n t n t tLiaise with member clients in a user support capacity to provide technical advice and support.

n t n n n t n n n t What we’re looking for n n n t n n n t n t tPost-secondary degree or diploma in computer science or other field related to information systems and technology, or equivalent related work experience with formal post-secondary education n t n t n t tMinimum of 3 years of experience within a similar role n t n t n t tExperience with one or more of Payments Canada’s supported technology products, tools, and / or services including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Linux, SQL Server / PostgreSQL n t n t n t tExperience in producing concise and detailed technical documentation n t n t n t tExperience in executing medium complexity technical activities related to IT infrastructure setup, maintenance and administration n t n t n t tExperience in providing Level 2 and 3 support, including end-user support n t n t n t tExperience in creating, executing, debugging, and maintaining automation scripts to reduce or eliminate manual repetitive tasks n t n t n t tParticipation in an on-call support rotation, along with overtime and travel outside of the Ottawa area will be required n t n t n t tGovernment of Canada Level II Secret Clearance or eligibility to obtain n t n t n t tITIL Certification is considered an asset n t n t n t tBilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset n t n n n t n n n t It would be great if you had n n n t n n n t n t tHands-on, recent experience in products and technologies relevant to their area of expertise n t n t n t tExpertise expected : n t n tWindows Infrastructure : Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, GPO, PowerShell, n t t n t t n t t tTools and Automation : Backup and recovery solutions, monitoring (SolarWinds preferred), patching solutions, etc.
