SUMMARY

The Senior Business Continuity and Emergency Response Specialist supports the North American Business Continuity and Emergency Response Program.

This position will support all aspects of the program including Governance, Planning, Exercising, Response & Recovery, and Regional requirements.

This includes enhancing processes and protocols and providing subject matter expertise and guidance to mitigate risk. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Business Continuity and Emergency Response plans and programs.

They will work with designated businesses / groups to ensure critical processes are in place in the event of a significant business interruption.

Ensures compliance with internal / external regulatory policies and guidelines and provides frequent and consistent status reporting.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures critical information is maintained and up to date on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Maintains and supports the program document repositories.
  • Ensures program metrics and dashboards are populated and presented as outlined within the Program Standards.
  • Represents the department on organizational committees and / or in meetings that discuss efforts that may result in operational impacts.
  • Supports activities and projects related to all areas of the Program; examples include but are not limited to : Awareness and TrainingPolicy, Procedure, Standard, Work Instruction Development and MaintenanceTemplate design and implementationReport developmentTracking and documentation of remediation activities
  • Ensures projects are delivered on time as outlined by the program schedule (i.e. Corporate and Client Projects).
  • Familiarization and alignment of client requirements with program deliverables.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert provides coaching and support to Corporate and Client Account program supports and other key stakeholders.
  • Communicates and maintains the importance of the Business Continuity and Emergency Response program and BGIS resilience through our online intranet presence.
  • Provides critical thinking skillsets to help identify gaps, opportunities for improvement and solutions to the program.
  • Represents the program and department on client facing calls, as required.
  • Facilitates and leads response and require efforts.
  • Supports other administrative duties as required during times of response & recovery.
  • Acts as departmental representative during internal and external audits that have a Business Continuity and / or Emergency Response component.
  • Attends departmental meetings and provides updates to management, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree or professional certification related to Emergency Management or Business Continuity
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working within a complex multi-client customer and / or corporate focused environment
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO22301 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS)
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented while maintaining the ability to support multiple projects and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively develop and facilitate workshops and response efforts with all levels of BGIS Team Members
  • Experience leading debriefs, hot washes, postmortems
  • Experience with facilitating and reporting results related to; Risk Assessments / Evaluations, Business Impact Analysis, Strategy Development, Plan Documentation, Exercise (Call Tree, Tabletop, Functional, Simulation, Full Scale) Design, Report Development
  • Experience developing and presenting educational materials
  • Proficient in SharePoint and Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, etc.)
  • Successful applicant must be willing to adjust work hours or work outside normal operating hours to support response & recovery efforts (this may include weekend or on call work)
  • Bilingual (French) is an asset but not required
  • Licenses and / or Professional Accreditation

  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) or Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
  • Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
